Things to Do in Camarillo From August to October 2026

Heritage Days ended July 19 and the carnival trailers left Ventura Boulevard by the following Monday. If you have lived in Camarillo more than a few years, that is usually the moment the summer calendar goes quiet in your head. It shouldn't. The next ten weeks are the part of the year Old Town keeps humming while the rest of the county assumes we've closed up shop.

What follows is the local rhythm from now through late October, read as a single calendar rather than four unrelated flyers. The events matter, but the more interesting story is what they reveal about how much of Camarillo's food scene has turned over in the last twelve months. If your mental map of "let's grab dinner in Old Town" still ends at Pizza Man Dan's and Souplantation, the next few weekends will quietly correct you.

The August Weekend That Reorders Traffic

The Camarillo Wings Association will host the 2026 Wings Over Camarillo Air Show with support from volunteers from the Southern California Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, EAA Chapter 723 and the Ventura County 99s. The event will take place August 15 and 16, 2026 at the Camarillo Airport. Gates open at 9am. Aerial performances run from noon to approximately 4pm. The theme of the 2026 event is "Celebrating 90 Years of the DC-3 - A Legend That Changed the World."

The airshow itself is well-known. What residents east of Las Posas learn the hard way is that Airport Way parking backs up onto Pleasant Valley Road both mornings, and any errand that involves crossing the airport corridor between roughly 9 and 11 a.m. should be moved to Friday or Monday. If you're planning to attend, gate prices are $45 for adult and advance sales are online only.

If you're staying home that weekend, the counter-move is a Saturday morning in Old Town. It empties out during airshow hours, and the shops on Ventura Boulevard that are packed during Heritage Days are pleasantly walkable while everyone else is watching the P-38 pass overhead.

The Fourth-Friday Spine

The event most residents forget is on their own calendar every month. The Camarillo Old Town Friday Night Cruise is back for 2026 on the 4th Friday of the month from March through October from 4-7 p.m. Drive down Ventura Boulevard with your classic car to the Studio Channel Islands Art Center at 2222 Ventura Boulevard. There will also be vendors, face painting and music in addition to the 200+ anticipated classic cars to see.

Three cruises remain this season:

The cruise nights are the closest thing Camarillo has to a first-Thursday-style ritual. They're short, free, walking-only once you park, and reliably end early enough that dinner afterward is the actual event.

Your Old Town Restaurant Map Is Probably Wrong

This is where the calendar matters more than it looks. Every one of these events dumps foot traffic onto Ventura Boulevard, and the restaurant lineup that traffic meets has changed enough in the last year that a five-year resident's shortlist is out of date. Worth updating before the August 28 cruise:

• Stephen's Grill. Slated to open in late February 2026 at the former Souplantation site in the Camarillo Town Center. Greek and Mediterranean menu, sit-down, and by far the closest full-service option to Old Town if the Fiesta-adjacent spots are slammed.
• Luv 'n Eat Ramen. A newly opened ramen spot serving a wide variety of ramens, appetizers, rice bowls, salads and much more.
• Shooby's. Smashburgers, hand-spun shakes, crispy chicken tenders and fries in a casual setting.
• Slice House. Coming soon to Camarillo Village Square at 2390 Las Posas Road, in the former Pizza Man Dan's. This will be the 4th Ventura County location for Slice House, following Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, and this month's anticipated opening in Montalvo Square in Ventura.
• Rosa Madera and Flora Loca Rooftop Cantina. Both are on Yelp's Camarillo hot-and-new list as of mid-2026 and worth knowing about when Old Town proper is at capacity.
• Texas Roadhouse. Still not open. The future store will be located at the Promenade in the Camarillo Outlets, next to Finney's Crafthouse, according to city records. Texas Roadhouse's project application has been completed and the California Environmental Quality Act analysis is being prepared, according to Michelle Glueckert D'Anna, assistant to the city manager. No construction timeline has been identified for the project yet. If you've been hearing "any day now" from neighbors since 2024, that's why.

There's a pattern in that list. Two of the biggest additions, Stephen's Grill and Slice House, are sitting inside boxes vacated by long-running Camarillo institutions. That is the version of turnover locals feel in their gut. Souplantation had been closed since 2020. Pizza Man Dan's on Las Posas ran for decades. Both spaces have new tenants opening within the same twelve-month window, and both are worth walking through before your visiting relatives decide where to eat.

The Date Most Residents Skip

Between Wings Over Camarillo and the October cruise, there is one afternoon that rarely makes the group chat. Adolfo Camarillo's birthday celebration on September 27, 2026 is a free event featuring the famous Camarillo White Horses, docent-guided tours of Adolfo Camarillo's 1892 Queen Anne Victorian Mansion, and special performances by Mariachi Camarillo & Ballet Folklorico Mestizo at the Camarillo Ranch House.

The reason to flag it: the ranch house sits on the west side of the 101 and most residents drive past it a hundred times a year without ever walking the grounds. Late September is one of the two windows a year when the White Horses are out and the mansion is open for the kind of tour you'd otherwise have to book a wedding to see. If you have kids in the four-to-ten range or out-of-town family visiting that last weekend of September, this is the answer to "what are we doing Sunday."

How the Pieces Actually Fit

If you're the household planner in your family and you want a workable shape for the next two months rather than a bulletin board of unrelated Saturdays, the calendar reads cleanly as five moves:

1. August 15–16. Airshow if you want it. If not, use Saturday morning in Old Town while the crowd is at the airport.
2. August 28. Fourth-Friday cruise. Park once, walk the boulevard, eat at one of the new spots you haven't tried.
3. September 25. Second cruise. Different classic cars every month, so it isn't a repeat.
4. September 27. Ranch House. Two days after the September cruise, so it lands as a natural weekend anchor.
5. October 23. Last cruise of the year. After this, Old Town settles until the holiday windows.

Read that way, Camarillo's fall isn't a lull between Heritage Days and Thanksgiving. It's a predictable rhythm the residents who plan around it get more out of than the ones who show up only in July.

A Note on the Rest of the County

Two more calendar items are worth knowing even though they sit outside Camarillo proper. Imaginarium's Atlantis experience at the Camarillo Premium Outlets features daily performances by John's Adrenaline Circus and spans over 1 1/2 acres with over five million lights. That runs through the fall and into the new year, and it's a reliable rainy-Sunday backup. And Ventura County Farm Day, the countywide open-farm event that brings more than 15 Ventura County farms, ranches, and agricultural organizations into public view for one day, typically lands in early November, which pairs neatly with the last cruise of the season.

Camarillo's real advantage as a place to live isn't any single event on this list. It's that the events repeat, the restaurants keep opening, and the calendar has a shape you can plan around once you know what to look for.
